Coronavirus and State aid: European Commission takes action
State aid is generally prohibited in the European Union. This is allowed either by the European Commission ‘s clearance decision (which, of course, takes time in the normal course of the procedure) or by certain exceptions of general application, in particular the Block Exemption Regulation and de minimis aid.
